Choral Societies

The Keats Quartet offers an exciting opportunity to choirs and choruses wishing to hire a small ensemble, adding immeasurably to the concert experience without the logistical challenge and expense of a full orchestra.

This solution is perfect, for example, for masses by Mozart, Haydn and Schubert, as well as cantatas by Bach and Vivaldi, and baroque operas such as Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.

The quartet's members are accomplished period-instrument specialists alongside their modern instrument playing, affording the choir the choice of either modern or baroque instruments, and an exciting historically-informed approach. The quartet members collectively have extensive choral experience (King's College, London; St Mary's, Nottingham; Old Royal Naval College Choir, Greenwich), thus proffering heightened intuition and a knowledgeable approach to accompanying singers.

We are happy to collaborate with your own harpsichordist or organist, or to provide a continuo player and additional musicians (e.g. woodwind) as required.

The Keats Quartet, on baroque instruments, worked with the Early Music Wells Consort in a musically sensitive and professional manner, and the concert was very well received.

Matthew Owens Organist and Master of the Choristers at Wells Cathedral

Your ensemble and stylish playing really held the evening together.

Lyn Alcantara, Director of Music, Wolfson College, Cambridge
